Incredible newsletter Alex! I will be attending your Summer 2025 Dolomites Retreat! Really excited to experience the magic of the Dolomites and learn from a PRO such as yourself!
It's very interesting to see that even successful photographers like you, who don't seem needing to prove anything to any prospect/client, might stumble upon the daily doubts that life has to offer.
That roadmap looks pretty accurate to me! The world is better for it when people invest in the unconventional. "Security" is a funny word. The reality is that nothing is secure, and those who intentionally venture off the beaten path become friends with the unknown.
Almost everyone I know has chosen security over sovereignty, and I think the reason is that most people don't have a good idea of what they'd want to do if they had the sovereignty. But for me, by leaving litigation where I have deadlines and court appearances, and focusing instead on contractual / transactional matters and estate planning, I'm starting to see that I might be able to have both.
Invoices as “optional reading” - don’t we know it! On a more serious note though, you don’t find travelling as much harder with kid/s? I’ve had to dial down the time away from home or risk missing important moments in our son’s (now 6yo) growing up as well as family time?
It's true that it doesn't get easier. I just view it as a necessity, where my job requires me to go placed. Although leaving is never easy, it makes coming back so much sweeter...
Thank you for this. Thank you for letting the rest of us know that even people at the top of the game still walk through the same set of challenges that we face, as we continually prize our sovereignty over safety. 🙏🏽
Love the "Comparison to others section" and agree wholeheartedly; the more I implement new things that are aligned with who I am, the less I care about what others are doing (at least I care a lot less)
Also, on the opposite end of the spectrum with reading clients minds, I find myself having to dial back expectations. Sometimes clients really know what they want, but it's out of touch with reality (whether it's re: budget, time, personnel, etc). It's a delicate balance.

Hell yeah. Excited to hang
Me too! It’s going to be epic!
Loved this issue very much. One we photographers should all resonate with. Thanks mister A.
Thanks for reading Johan
Wow!! What a valid point about “there being a fundamental difference between technical trades and creative services!” So good.
Great read!

We limit ourselves so much when it comes to life choices. I still do every day...
I can’t believe the Toyota is needing a tow out in one of the final frames. A rare occasion 🤘🏼
Appreciate your thoughts as always man !
Well if its of any consolation, it was another Land Cruiser pulling it. It fell into the deepest invisible creek!
Thanks Alex for this one, means a lot !
bien sur mon Tino

Absolutely. The dance of expectations is one that we need to master
